Safety and license
Who’s in the room, and how we check
Parents ask us about licensing, ratios and pick-up more than anything else, so here are the numbers and the rules, in plain words.

License and rating
Licensed by the State of Colorado
Pocket Creek is a licensed child care center, Colorado license #2043817, licensed by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood. Our license is posted at the front door, and you’re welcome to read it on a tour.
We’re rated Level 3 in Colorado Shines, the state’s quality rating system, rated in spring 2025. Ratings change when they renew, so look up our current rating, license status and any inspection reports on the Colorado Shines website; you’ll find them under our name.

How we keep children safe
The door and pick-up
The front door is locked all day and opens with a family’s own code. Only adults you’ve listed in your enrollment packet can pick up a child. We check photo ID every time until we know someone well, and always for a new person. Nobody else leaves with your child without your written permission, whoever phones and whatever they say.
The people
Every adult who works here passes a fingerprint background check before a first day alone with children. Every teacher holds current pediatric first aid and CPR, and each completes at least 20 hours of training a year.
Sleep
Babies sleep on their backs in empty cribs, with no blankets, bumpers or toys, and a teacher checks on them every few minutes.
Illness and medicine
A child with a fever of 100.4°F or more, vomiting or diarrhea stays home until 24 hours after the last of it, without medicine. We call you if your child gets sick here and ask you to come within an hour. We give medicine only with your signed permission and the original label, on the form in your packet.
Health forms stay on paper
Your child’s health and immunization records, allergy plan and emergency contacts live in a locked cabinet and in our child care software. We don’t ask for any of them through this website.

Photos
We don’t post photos of children without permission
This website shows rooms, toys, hands and the yard, almost never a child’s face and never a child’s name. We use a child’s photo in our newsletter or on social media only after a parent signs our photo release, and you can take that permission back any time, in writing, and we’ll take the photo down.
- Never a child’s name with a photo
- Release is yes or no for each use: website, social media, print
- Take-back any time
Every child is welcome
We welcome children with disabilities and developmental delays. Our building is on one floor, with step-free doors and a wide hallway. Every child is different, so talk with Marisol before or after a tour: she’ll tell you honestly what we can do and what we can’t, and with your permission we work with your child’s therapists, who can visit during the day.
We speak English and Spanish with families and children, and we can arrange other interpreters for a tour if you tell us a few days ahead.
Ask us anything
Marisol answers questions about safety and licensing on every tour and by phone.
