Minnows · 6 weeks to 15 months

Babies on their own schedules

Joy and a second teacher care for up to eight babies. Each baby eats and sleeps when they need to, in a bare crib on their back, and we write down every bottle, nap and diaper in the parent app. Mornings are floor time, songs and short walks around the building.

  • Ratio 1 teacher to 4 babies, groups of up to 8
  • Safe sleep: empty cribs, babies on their backs
  • Bring bottles, formula or breast milk; we provide diapers and wipes

Tadpoles · 15 months to 2½ years

Words, blocks and big feelings

Renee and a second teacher lead up to ten toddlers through two naps’ worth of play: blocks, water tables, stories, songs in English and Spanish, and a little help with putting on boots. Potty learning happens at each child’s pace, with you.

  • Ratio 1 teacher to 5 toddlers, groups of up to 10
  • Two outdoor times a day when the weather allows
  • Diapers, wipes and sunscreen (with your permission) provided

Dragonflies · 2½ to 4 years

Play-based preschool

Tomasz and a second teacher lead up to sixteen children in the room where most children spend the longest. Days move between free choice, circle time, art, pretend play and outdoor time. Children learn through projects they pick, like this fall’s leaf collection.

  • Ratio 1 teacher to 8 children, groups of up to 16
  • Art, stories, music and a mud kitchen
  • Toilet-trained or working on it

Herons · 4 to 5 years (pre-K)

The year before kindergarten

Aisha and a second teacher lead up to twenty children through letters and sounds, counting and early math, writing their own names and the harder skills: taking turns, listening and settling a disagreement with words. We’re a Universal Preschool Colorado provider, which can cover part of this room’s tuition.

  • Ratio 1 teacher to 10 children, groups of up to 20
  • A weekly walk to the library on the corner
  • We help with kindergarten forms and visits

A day in Dragonflies

The other rooms follow a similar shape, with more naps and feedings for babies and toddlers.

  1. 1

6:30 to 8:00, arrival and breakfast

Families say hello at the door. Early arrivals eat breakfast together and play quietly while the room fills.

  2. 2

    8:30, circle and free choice

A song, a story and the day’s plan, then children choose blocks, art, books or pretend play.

  3. 3

    10:00, outside

Every day the weather allows, in coats and boots when it’s cold. The yard has a sandbox, a garden and a mud kitchen.

  4. 4

11:30 lunch, then rest until 2:30

A hot lunch at the table, then cots and quiet. Children who don’t sleep rest with books.

  5. 5

    3:00, snack and art

A snack from the kitchen, then painting, clay or a group project.

  6. 6

    4:30 to 6:00, outside again and pick-up

More outdoor play or quiet games until you arrive. You get a note about one real thing from the day.
